  • Aluminum foil for baking
  • Oven

Ingredients

  • 1 whole baguette
  • 125 g diced ham
  • 150 g soft cheese e.g., cream cheese
  • 30 g shredded cheese e.g., cheddar or mozzarella
  • 50 g softened butter
  • 12 small pickles diced
  • 2 hard-boiled eggs chopped
  • 2 tsp mustard
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

Prepare the Baguette:

  • Slice the baguette in half lengthwise, leaving one edge intact for stability.
  • Remove the soft inner bread to create space for the filling. Set the bread aside.

Make the Filling:

  • In a mixing bowl, combine the softened butter, soft cheese, and mustard until smooth.
  • Add the chopped eggs, diced pickles, diced ham, and shredded cheese. Mix well.
  • Season the mixture with salt and pepper to taste.

Assemble and Bake:

  • Stuff the prepared mixture evenly into the hollowed-out baguette.
  • Wrap the stuffed baguette tightly in aluminum foil.
  • Bake in a preheated oven at 356°F (180°C) for 20 minutes.

Cool and Slice:

  • Allow the baked baguette to cool slightly, then refrigerate it overnight to enhance the flavors.
  • The next day, slice the baguette into bite-sized pieces for serving.

Notes

  • Variations:
    • Swap diced ham for smoked salmon, tuna, or chorizo for a unique twist.
    • Experiment with different cheeses or add fresh herbs like dill or parsley.
  • Serving Suggestion: Arrange the slices on a platter with additional pickles or olives for garnish.
  • Make-Ahead Option: The baguette can be refrigerated for up to 2 days before slicing, making it a stress-free option for hosting.
